About Us
Newman Sport Diving Club was formed in July 1984 in
Coventry
,
England. From the clubs inception, we have attracted most of our members as novice students, via courses that we run at
Cardinal
Newman
School
, Sandpits lane, Keresley,
Coventry during the school term. The course take beginners through the basics of SCUBA diving skills, towards BS-AC Ocean Diver to Sports Diver.
Experienced divers can continue to further their diving skills and quailifactions via Diver Leader to Advanced Diver (and beyond?) by means of various skills develpment courses that are run regionally.
We run regular trips both within the
UK
and overseas. Over the past couple of years club members have dived in
Malta
, Lanzarote,
Tenerife
,
Red Sea
,
Cyprus
, the
Maldives
,
California
and Mexico, as well as places like Pembroke,
Plymouth, Swanage
and
Weymouth
in the
UK
As we are situated right in the middle of the
UK most of our training is carried out at in land sites like Stoney Cove.
In order to continue to teach students to dive, we actively encourge our members to become involved in dive instruction. All teaching is caried out by BS-AC qualified instructors. The club members include a number of Assistant Club Instructors, Club Instructors and Open Water Instructors.
NSDC is branch 1448 of the British Sub Aqua Club, the National Governing body (NGB) for underwater acitivities in the UK. As the NGB the BSAC works in conjunction with the HSE, MCA, RNLI and other diving agencies to name just a few organisations, to ensure the continued development and safety of scuba diving for all.
